UW-Platteville student awarded Tommy G. Thompson Public Leadership Scholarship

University of Wisconsin-Platteville sophomore Kaitlyn Greenwood has been awarded a $3,000 scholarship from the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership. The scholarship recognizes students who exemplify former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson's spirit of tackling complex challenges through teamwork, determination and service to the state.

As part of the selection process, Greenwood submitted a personal essay reflecting on her definition of leadership, examples of how she has demonstrated leadership at UW-Platteville, her future aspirations and how her leadership philosophy aligns with Governor Thompson's legacy.

"I'm so grateful for this scholarship because it reduces financial stress and allows me to better focus on my studies and leadership goals," said Greenwood, from Orion, Illinois, who is majoring in forensic investigation and biology. "Because of this support, I can remain actively involved in organizations like Fusion X and The Gray Matters Collective while continuing to grow academically and contribute meaningfully to the campus community."

The Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership selects recipients who demonstrate dedication, creativity and a commitment to leadership. These students represent a wide range of interests and career goals, and each is poised to make a positive and lasting impact in their communities across Wisconsin.
