The Kansas City Health Department Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
Free Family-Friendly Event Celebrating Hispanic Culture and Contributions
For Immediate release: Friday, September 29, 2025
The Kansas City Community Health Assessment shows that the top three chronic conditions in Kansas City are obesity, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol-affecting up to 40% of the population, said Dr. Marvia Jones. "The Vida Sana Hispanic culture event will not only serve as a celebration, but it will also bring public health resources directly to the community with complimentary health resources, engaging activities, and delicious food for all attendees. The event aims to unite the community and recognize the rich heritage and achievements of the Hispanic community."
Attendees can enjoy yoga, a craft corner, face painting, live dancers, and a speaker who will discuss the impact of chronic diseases on the Hispanic community. There will be vendor tables and services from the STI clinic. UMKC Dentistry will also be there to offer oral hygiene kits, including toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, and mouthwash.
