BRMC, OGH Announce December Star Awards

BRADFORD, PA / OLEAN, NY - Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), Kaleida Health facilities, are proud to announce the winners of the 2025 December Star Awards. This month's BRMC and OGH recipients were Kip Waid and Jay Gleason, BSN, RN, respectively.

Kip Waid who was recognized as the December 2025 Star Award recipient is a maintenance worker in the plant services department. He has been with BRMC since joining the organization in 1999.

"Kip's exceptional dedication and recent contributions in the dietary area merit special recognition. He has consistently taken on numerous projects with a focus on minimizing disruption to operations while ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standard. His commitment to BRMC can be demonstrated through a recent example of him coming in at midnight to do some repairs ahead of our accreditation visit," read his nomination. "Kip remains approachable and friendly, even on the busiest days, making him an invaluable asset to our team."

Jay Gleason, BSN, RN, is a nurse on the med surg unit and has been at OGH since 2024. He was presented the December 2025 Star Award at OGH.

"Jay is an exceptional nurse whose attentive listening, genuine interaction and daily support have made a meaningful impact on his patients, one of whom shared that they "look forward to seeing him every day." He is a true asset to the med-surg team, as he is consistently taking on additional responsibilities," said his nomination. "Jay has done an excellent job in precepting graduate nurses and exemplifies the high standard of care our community deserves!"

The Star Award is presented monthly to an employee who demonstrates outstanding performance and inspires the same in others. Staff members are nominated for exceptional customer satisfaction, continuous performance improvement, teamwork, communication, ownership/accountability and excellence through co-worker or patient nominations.

The following were also nominated for Star Awards at BRMC: Lynn Lunn, outpatient rehab services; Bridget Babola, patient accounts; Thomas Messer, materials management; and Christopher Burr, food and nutrition. OGH nominees were: Megan Berghauser, cardiovascular; Kristina Deibler, HIM; Jamie Elggren, practice management; Hannah Pfeffer, RN, ICU; and George Walsh, RN, BHU.

Star award recipients receive a chamber of commerce gift certificate, additional paid time off, a certificate of recognition and the star award parking spot.
