Valdosta, Ga. - U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering resources to build a new firefighter training center in Valdosta.
Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to help the City of Valdosta purchase a burn building with an attached 4-story training tower.
According to local officials, the facility will provide firefighters with live fire training opportunities as well as multi-story structure features, giving firefighters the ability to simulate multi-story structures they encounter in local responses.
Sen. Ossoff is delivering $845,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on February 3.
"I'm pleased to announce that I included funds in the Federal budget for 2026 to help build a new training facility for the Valdosta Fire Department," Sen. Ossoff said. "Firefighters are real heroes in our communities, and I want Valdosta firefighters to be able to train on the very best."
"Any time we call on Senator Ossoff he delivers," said Valdosta Mayor Scott James Matheson. "The City of Valdosta is thankful to receive these new resources to help ensure our firefighters are well-trained and best equipped to respond to emergencies in Valdosta and across the region."
