Leader Schumer Statement On The Second Anniversary Of Hamas’s Horrific October 7th Terrorist Attacks On Israel

Washington, D.C.- Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today released the following statement on the second anniversary of the horrific Hamas attacks on Israel:

"Today marks 2-years since Hamas's horrific October 7th terrorist attacks on Israel. The brutality and viciousness of Hamas's attack-indiscriminate violence against innocent infants, young people at a music concert, women, and the elderly; sexual violence; taking hundreds hostage-remain ever present in my mind. We must never allow the world to forget the horrors Hamas inflicted on that day, which will forever live in infamy.

"Today, we remember the victims of the October 7th attacks and reaffirm our commitment to finally bring home all the hostages still cruelly held by Hamas. I will never forget my visit to Israel-just days after the horrific attack-and meeting with the families of victims of Hamas's attack, including families of those held hostage. 728 painstaking days later: 48 hostages remain in captivity-including the remains of New Yorkers Omer Neutra and Itay Chen. Each day they are kept from their families and each day grieving families are denied a proper burial of their loved ones, is a day too many. We must bring them home now.

"At this crucial moment in negotiations, the Trump administration, all those at the table, and the international community must do everything to finally secure a ceasefire-hostage agreement to end the war in Gaza, bring home the hostages held by Hamas, surge humanitarian relief for innocent Palestinians in Gaza, and build to lasting peace."
