Murphy Statement On Joint Resolutions of Disapproval for Arms Sales to Israel

WASHINGTON-U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Wednesday voted in favor of two joint resolutions of disapproval related to the sale of 1,000-pound bombs and bulldozers to Israel.

"I will always support the security of the Israeli people, but Prime Minister Netanyahu has jeopardized that security and Israel's standing in the world through his handling of the wars in Gaza, Iran and Lebanon, and by allowing total impunity for the spiraling violence in the West Bank. The surge in settler violence against Palestinians and the widespread demolition of their homes is unacceptable and undermines the potential for a two-state solution that protects Israel's future as a Jewish, democratic state. Meanwhile, Netanyahu's rapidly escalating invasion of southern Lebanon is about to create a new humanitarian disaster. I do not believe it is good policy to support providing bombs and equipment that are directly enabling this violence."
