NASSP Joins National Coalition to Expand Youth-Led Service With $2M Grant from The Allstate Foundation

The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) announced today it is joining a national coalition supported by The Allstate Foundation to expand youth-led service opportunities across the country. As part of the effort, NASSP will receive a $2 million grant from The Allstate Foundation that will empower youth-led service opportunities for over one million National Honor Society (NHS) and National Association of Student Councils (NASC) students.

The multi-year commitment is part of a broader $15 million investment from The Allstate Foundation supporting seven of the country's largest youth-serving organizations that help young people lead through service in their schools and communities.

"This investment reflects The Allstate Foundation's long-standing belief that service is a powerful developmental tool for young people to build career readiness, connection and resilience," said Kate Nack, vice president of The Allstate Foundation and Social Impact. "When young people are trusted to lead and given real opportunities to make an impact, the benefits multiply. That's why The Allstate Foundation is investing in youth-serving organizations to help reach millions of young people with more opportunities to lead through service."

This initiative is informed by new research conducted by The Allstate Foundation in partnership with Gallup, which found that youth-led service is linked to stronger career readiness, connection and resilience. Through this multi-year initiative, students are supported not only as leaders within their schools, but as community changemakers and scholarship recipients who are making a difference in their communities and across the country.

"At NASSP, we see firsthand that when young people have the chance to lead, they develop into compassionate and capable leaders," said NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe. "Youth-led service allows students to apply classroom learning to real community challenges, fostering innovation and a commitment to civic life. The Allstate Foundation's support provides the essential resources that enable our student leaders to turn their vision for a better world into a reality."

In addition to NASSP, the national coalition includes Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Future Business Leaders of America, Junior Achievement USA, National 4-H Council, National PTA, and YMCA of the USA, with a combined reach of more than 30 million young people.
