GODFREY - Lewis and Clark Community College welcomed its new Vice President of Finance and Operations last month, as it prepared to wind down the academic year.

Area-native Jonathan Lasinski, a 2002 graduate of Alton High School, started in the role on April 20, training with outgoing Vice President Mary Schulte prior to her retirement, April 30.

"I'm excited to move back closer to my mother and younger brother's family and to serve in the community I grew up in," he said.

Lasinski has spent the last eight years as Director of Business Services and then Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services at the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau. He has over 20 years of experience working in the finance field, serving in roles such as treasurer, controller, CFO, Director of Business Services, and Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services.

"Lewis and Clark allows me to continue to work in higher education in a similar role that I held at the University of Alaska Southeast, while being closer to family and having more opportunities for my children," he said. "I bring perspectives from working at a university that is part of a larger, complex system."

President Ken Trzaska said he looks forward to working with Lasinski to strengthen LC and its ability to serve its students and the community.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jon to Lewis and Clark," Trzaska said. "His experience, energy, and commitment to student-centered service make him an exceptional addition to our campus and leadership team."

Currently, Lasinski is working remotely while he transitions into the role and prepares to relocate to Illinois. He expects to be on campus full-time this June.

"My last day for my previous institution was Friday, April 17, where I was able to help the university through its Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) accreditation site visit and end the week sitting in the dunk tank for Spring Carnival," he said.

Lasinski spent his first week at LC learning as much as he could from Schulte, and in the first 90 days in his new role, he plans to listen and learn about the campus community.

Lasinski holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2006) and a Master of Business Administration degree, with a concentration in Finance, from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University in the Netherlands (2012).
