Summer 2026 Magnify Focuses on Applied Artificial Intelligence in Lab Medicine and Is Available Now

ARUP Laboratories has published the Summer 2026 edition of Magnify: The Art and Science of Diagnostic Medicine, which highlights the people, science, and innovation shaping laboratory medicine.

This edition focuses on applied artificial intelligence (AI) and examines how ARUP teams use AI thoughtfully and responsibly to improve diagnostic testing, streamline laboratory operations, and support better outcomes for patients and clinicians while keeping people firmly in the loop.

Inside the Summer 2026 Edition

The summer edition of Magnify features insights from thought leaders, strategic perspectives, and more, including:

  • A profile of Adam Barker, PhD, ARUP's chief operations officer and president of the Reference Business Unit, that explores how his background in science and experience as a parent shaped his people-first approach to leadership, growth, and operational strategy
  • A powerful patient story and video highlighting the impact of ultrasensitive laboratory testing and targeted treatment for a patient whose symptoms once felt debilitating and are now well managed
  • A health system strategy article examining why many laboratory acquisitions fail to deliver expected value and how health systems can protect revenue, retain operational control, and grow ambulatory testing services by taking a different approach

Together, these stories, as well as a feature about lab science books for children, a roundup of ARUP's educational offerings, and profiles of a former ARUP fellow and a microbiologist with a deep understanding of how money moves through the lab, illustrate how ARUP is advancing laboratory medicine in ways that are practical, ethical, and patient centered.
