The Ohio AgriBusiness Association, along with 123 other organizations representing the U.S. food and agricultural value chain, signed a letter supporting a full 16-year renewal of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement as part of the public consultation for the 2026 Joint Review.
The letter emphasizes that Canada and Mexico are among the top export markets for U.S. agricultural products and notes that USMCA has allowed exports to soar, created efficiencies, provided regulatory transparency, and ensured science-based treatment of commodities-benefiting farmers, producers, and ranchers.
Signatories stress that without USMCA, agricultural exporters and family farms would face unpredictable markets, higher costs, and weakened competitiveness. The letter cites a 2024 USMCA dispute settlement in which U.S. corn growers successfully challenged Mexico's ban on genetically modified corn as an example of the agreement's benefits.
The organizations urge leaders in all three countries to extend the agreement before the review begins in July 2026 to ensure market stability for U.S. agriculture.
