Fun Things to Do at Culture Fest in Downtown Carrollton

Celebrate multiple nationalities, listen to music, bring an appetite, and experience a world of culture and cuisine in Historic Downtown Carrollton (1106 S. Broadway Street) on Saturday, September 27 from 3-9 p.m. for Carrollton Culture Fest.

The previously known World of Foodies event has been enhanced with an enriched cultural experience of more mouthwatering delights, live entertainment, and a grander celebration of nations.

The event is free to attend, but bring spending money as craft and food vendors will be selling their specialty wares, novelties, and culturally-themed dishes at varying prices.

Fun for the Whole Family
Grab the kids and come out for an around-the-world adventure. Carrollton Culture Fest is fun for everyone.

Culinary Delights
Prepare for a scrumptious adventure where diverse cuisines from around the world will satisfy any taste bud. Food and drink vendors will offer specialties menus representing Asian, French, German, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, and Pakistani fares. Featured dishes include croissant waffles from Coco's Croffles, pizza with bold Indian spices from Curry Pizza House, fruit hand-pies and fresh croissants from Grist & Grind bakery, cinnamon rolls from Holy Rollie Pastry Shop, authentic Asian cuisine from Love Song Kitchen, Pakistani Tex-Mex from Halal Fushionz, cold-brew coffee, matcha, and milk drinks from Pink Oasis, street tacos and elotes from Tacos & Avocados, Korean BBQ from The Bop Bop, and more.

Crafts for Children and Adults
Families can stop by the Korean American Youth Artists of Texas (KAYAT) booth for a hands-on children's craft, and guests of all ages are invited to create a keepsake with Kouka Calligraphy Studio, who will be offering free calligraphy crafts.

In between tasty treats, attendees can enjoy culturally diverse merchandise and creations from craft vendors such as local book author A Halfie's Rambles, handmade Peruvian items from Art by the Andes, authentic Mexican clothes and accessories from A Touch of Mexico, handmade natural soaps from Goodie Skins, fruit hand-pies and fresh croissants from Grist & Grind Bakery, island wear and jewelry from Island Teine Boutique, fused glass products from JB Glass Art Works, hands-on children's crafts from KAYAT, Japanese calligraphy from Kouka Calligraphy Studio, LC Cake Pop, Mai Handmade Crochet, Mexican artisan items from Medina's Accessories, Latin American jewelry from My Silver Linings, handmade Mexican artifacts from Norma's Creaciones, 20 fantasy drawings from Razorblade Art, local honey from Ross' Rowdy Bees, authentic African accessories and more from SM Fashions, permanent jewelry from Sol and Sage, The Flower Caravan mobile flower shop, and crocheted plushies, wearables, and décor from The Stitching Abbey.

Cultural Performances
Enjoy good food and listen to entertainment from around the world. This year's event will again feature a stage on 4th Avenue between the Plaza Arts Center and El Rincon restaurant for high-energy cultural performances. The day begins with the Drums of Tahiti - Polynesian Revue at 3:30 p.m., SDK Bhangra at 5 p.m., Rising Phoenix Lion Dragons at 6:30 p.m., and UDA Samba at 7:30 p.m. After each performance, the groups will stick around to take photos with attendees and teach some fun dance moves, making it an interactive and immersive experience for all ages. All times are subject to change.


Drinks for Young & Old
New this year is Bevvy Blvd, an international drink garden coordinated by Downtown Carrollton's own 3 Nations Brewing Co., offering a curated selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages from across the globe. Some of the featured drinks will include a French 75, frozen margarita, Italian pilsner, Italian red wine, and 3 Nations Brewing Co.'s TEXIAN Mexican-Style Lager. All guests will be identified.

Photo Ops
Before leaving, remember to capture the moment. There will be a professional photobooth on the Square. Take turns posing for photos in front of a colorful backdrop, or choose one of the Dallas Yarn Bombers' tree-wrapping creations and have a photoshoot with a friend.

Parking
Free parking is allowed on City streets unless otherwise prohibited. A map can be found on the Carrollton Culture Fest page at cityofcarrollton.com/events. The City of Carrollton will be closing Main Street, Elm Street, 4th Street, and S. Broadway Street around the Downtown Carrollton Square at 6 a.m. on the day of the event. The orange sections on the map represent the areas that will be closed. Parked vehicles will need to be moved before that time. The roads will reopen at approximately 11 p.m.

Sensory Friendly Break Area
Culture Fest's top fun activities wouldn't be complete without offering a quiet space for children and adults with special needs to take a break from the noise and crowd. Coloring, sensory toys, noise cancelling headphones, and bean bag chairs will be available at the event.

Vendor Spots are Still Available There's still time for artisans with unique trinkets or eateries with international cuisine offerings to sign up as a craft or food vendor.
