Wyden Applauds Health Priorities in Government Funding Legislation

House Appropriations Text Includes Pharmacy Benefit Manager Reforms, Steps on Ghost Networks, and More

Washington, D.C. - Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., issued a statement after the House of Representatives released legislative text for a government funding bill that included a section reflecting bipartisan, bicameral negotiations on health care policies in Finance Committee jurisdiction, including pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reform, measures to address ghost networks in Medicare Advantage.

"This agreement represents important steps forward on health care priorities like taking on pharmaceutical middlemen and achieving mental health parity," Wyden said. "I'm pleased that significant Medicare policies from the Finance Committee's PBM package were included, as well as measures to go after insurance companies that mislead seniors in Medicare Advantage with lists of doctors that aren't actually available. Americans have deep concerns about the state of their health care, and these reforms represent a down payment on the effort to ensure our system benefits families over giant corporations."
