The Government expresses satisfaction with the launch of the pilot phase of the Joint Operations Room in Tripoli

The Italian Government expresses its satisfaction with the launch of the pilot phase of the Joint Operations Room in Tripoli, which represents a concrete follow-up to the summit held in Istanbul on 1 August 2025.

The Joint Operations Room, run by the Libyan authorities, is made up of Libyan officials joined by liaison officers from Italy, Qatar, and Türkiye to support Libya's efforts in managing illegal migration, to strengthen its search and rescue capabilities, and to improve the exchange of information.

Enhanced cooperation will be carried out with respect for Libyan sovereignty, with the shared objective of saving human lives at sea and fighting the criminal networks involved in migrant trafficking.
