Imbuing a New Hotel with History

Imbuing a New Hotel with History

August 11, 2026 | Development

What's in a name?

For OTO Development's new hotel in the heart of Spartanburg, South Carolina, it's the draw of history. The future of hospitality. A sense of place defined by yesterday, designed for tomorrow.

It's The Morgan Hotel.

The hotel is named for Morgan Square, the historic civic heart of Spartanburg - itself named for Gen. Daniel Morgan, hero of the 1781 Battle of Cowpens, a strategic turning point in the American Revolution that took place just 11 miles from downtown Spartanburg.

The Morgan Hotel will be the hospitality component of The Johnson Group's transformative mixed-use development in our corporate hometown.

As OTO's first property within the Curio Collection by Hilton, this vibrant lifestyle hotel will feature:

  • 152 guest rooms and suites
  • ~6,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including a ballroom
  • A variety of dining venues
  • A rooftop pool
  • A fully equipped fitness center

Architecturally, the hotel will complement Main Street's other new components - two Class A office buildings, for example, and 181 luxury apartments. The interior design will reflect Spartanburg's culture and character.

Guests will be immersed in a truly boutique vibe as The Morgan Hotel combines locally inspired experiences with the trusted quality and benefits of Hilton Honors, Hilton's award-winning guest loyalty program.

Doors will open in late 2027.
