Centennial Adopts Strategic Roadmap for Midtown

Centennial Adopts Strategic Roadmap for Midtown

Published on January 27, 2026

The City of Centennial recently adopted the Midtown Centennial Sub-Area Vision Plan(PDF, 26MB), a strategic roadmap to transform and reinvigorate the Midtown Centennial area as a connected, lively hub that leverages regional transit, walkable neighborhoods, and a mix of housing employment and retail opportunities.

The plan envisions Midtown as a meaningful neighborhood of activity centered around I-25 and the Dry Creek light rail station, creating a destination where people can live, work, play and gather. It sets the stage for the coming decades of activity as Midtown transitions from an aging business park to a vibrant mixed-use destination.

The new roadmap outlines a district that integrates housing, commerce, transit and public space into a cohesive and resilient community. A central focus of the vision is public spaces, identifying opportunities for new parks, trails, plazas and pathways throughout Midtown. The framework also establishes a vision for a cohesive downtown core along I-25.

"This vision is about creating a place that works for people," said Centennial Mayor Christine Sweetland. "From new parks and trails to housing and jobs near transit, the Midtown plan is designed to strengthen connections, expand opportunity, and create a welcoming destination for residents, workers and visitors alike."

What's in the plan?

  • Guiding principles that set the vision for Midtown
  • Authentic
  • Resilient
  • Connected
  • Vibrant
  • Mixed-use opportunities across Midtown, introducing new uses through redevelopment and adaptive reuse that build on proximity to transit
  • Active transportation network - featuring multiuse paths, generous sidewalks and amenity zones to support safe, comfortable trips
  • Greenway placemaking via the Midtown Loop, a planned pedestrian-focused trail, connecting parks and destinations

Background

The vision for Midtown builds on Centennial's comprehensive planning and economic development efforts, identifying the area as a focal area for employment, innovation and housing choice supported by access to multimodal transportation.
