HONOLULU - The Hawai'i Public Utilities Commission has rescheduled two public informational meetings on Hawai'i Island that were originally announced in September as part of the commission's ongoing effort to hear from communities about Hawaiian Electric's service reliability and weather-related impacts. The changes are due to venue availability issues at the previously scheduled school sites.
These informational meetings are intended to give Hawai'i Island residents the chance to ask questions, learn more about the status of Hawaiian Electric's service reliability initiatives, and share their experiences related to outages and weather-driven disruptions.
The updated Hilo date allows the informational meeting to follow the rescheduled 6:00 p.m. public hearing on Hawaiian Electric's rate case rebasing application, providing residents an opportunity to attend both meetings.
The commission will announce additional dates and locations for Maui County and O'ahu as details are finalized.
The updated schedule for Hawaiian Electric's service reliability and weather-related impact meetings is posted on the PUC website at https://puc.hawaii.gov/public-notice/public-informational-meetings-on-hawaiian-electrics-service-reliability-and-weather-related-impacts.
Media outlets and community partners who published the previous dates are asked to update their listings to reflect the corrected schedule.
The Hawai'i Public Utilities Commission regulates all chartered, franchised, certificated and registered public utility companies operating in the state. The commission's mission is to ensure safe, reliable and affordable utility services that are in the public interest.
