Promotion Comes as Shelters Prepare for Increase in Lost Pets Around Fourth of July Holiday
HENDERSON, Nev. (June 30, 2026) - To celebrate America's 250th anniversary, Henderson Animal Protection Services is offering $25 adoptions for animals six months and older from July 1 to July 11 to help more pets find homes.
The Fourth of July is the busiest time of year for animal shelters nationwide as fireworks can lead to a rise in lost pets and shelter intake. Officials say the promotion is intended to encourage adoptions during a time when shelters typically see higher demand for space and resources.
Residents are encouraged to visit the shelter to find a new companion and give an animal a second chance.
In observance of the holiday, Henderson Animal Protection Services will be closed on Friday, July 3. The shelter will reopen Saturday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for pet reunification and adoptions.
