The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) today (04 July) joined the national dengue prevention drive by conducting a special community clean-up programme in support of the island-wide initiative launched this morning.
The programme forms part of the nationwide dengue prevention campaign coordinated by the Ministry of Defence in support of the ongoing dengue control efforts spearheaded by the Ministry of Health, with the active participation of the Tri-Forces.
As part of the initiative, Sri Lanka Air Force personnel carried out extensive cleaning activities along the main road from Pelawatta Junction to Kinnadeniya, as well as within the Guwanpura residential area.
The community service programme primarily focused on eliminating potential mosquito breeding sites, clearing blocked drainage systems, and removing overgrown vegetation around public areas to help curb the spread of dengue.
