City Announces Road Closures for the Homecoming 250 Navy Marine Corps Events

PHILADELPHIA - City officials released information about road closures, safety, and public transportation associated with upcoming Homecoming 250 Navy Marines Corps events. The Homecoming 250 Navy Marines Corps celebration commemorates the founding of the military services that helped the United States gain and defend our independence for 250 years.

Events around the Navy's anniversary take place October 9 to 16, 2025, followed by the Marine Corps' celebration on November 7 to 11, 2025.

This special week will include exciting events, including the parade of Navy ships and other vessels, a spectacular flyover by the Blue Angels, special museum exhibits, tours of modern and historic ships, and much more.

U.S. Navy Band Commodores Performance

Philadelphia Museum of Art Steps

7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

U.S. Navy and Marine Corps bands will be performing at various locations in Philadelphia, P.A. and Camden, N.J. as part of the Navy and Marine Corps 250th celebration.

The following streets will be closed beginning at 5:30 p.m. until approximately 9 p.m. on Friday, October 10:

  • Eakins Oval (in front of the Art Museum Steps)
  • Kelly Drive between Spring Garden Street and 25thStreet

Military & Veteran Suicide Prevention Walk

Walk to support those fighting a battle many may never see and help reduce stigma and raise awareness for suicide prevention among the veteran and military community.

Marchers will gather at Penn's Landing at 9 a.m., with the march starting at 10:30 a.m. and concluding at 5th and Market at the All Veterans Reunion Picnic.

The following streets will be closed on a rolling basis beginning at 10:30 a.m. until approximately 12 p.m. on Sunday, October 12:

  • Market Street between Front and 5th Streets

Homecoming 250 All Veterans Picnic & Victory at Sea Concert

Independence National Historic Park

12 p.m. - 10 p.m.

A gathering of United States vets and civilians at a day-long picnic on Independence Mall. Featuring music by the US Navy Bands, Country Current & The Leathernecks, the All Veterans Reunion Picnic will also feature a rally point spirit competition, and a picnic remix competition featuring celebrity chef - and UK Royal Navy Vet - Robert Irvine, as well as retired United States Marine Officer, stand-up comedian, and actor, Robert Riggle.

The event will also feature over 50 vendors, food trucks, veteran activities, PA Army National Guard Rock Climbing Wall, Naval History and Heritage Booth, US Navy Recruiting, a special recognition ceremony honoring those that served in WWII, The Korean War, and Vietnam War, and many static displays throughout Independence Mall.

The following streets will be closed beginning at 2 a.m. until approximately 11 p.m. on Sunday, October 12:

Navy & Marine Corps 250 Parade

11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

This two-hour parade will feature colorful floats, balloons, marching bands, and both historic and modern Navy and Marine Corps vehicles. The parade will salute the people who serve and those on the path to joining branches of the military, including Naval Academy midshipmen, ROTC, NROTC, and JROTC students, and Sea Cadets.

Grab a spot along the route and watch as generations of service members, cadets, and community organizations bring our sea service story to life.The event is free and open to the public.

The following streets will be closed beginning at 1 p.m. until approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 12 for the parade assembly area:

  • JFK Boulevard (outbound lanes) between 20th Street and 30th Street

The following streets will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. on Monday, October 13 for the parade assembly area:

  • 20thStreet between Ben Franklin Parkway and Market Street
  • JFK Boulevard between 18thand 30thStreets
  • Cherry Street between 21stand 20thStreets
  • Appletree Street between 21stand 20thStreets
  • Cuthbert Street between 21stand 20thStreets
  • 19thStreet between Arch and Market Streets

The following street will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, October 13 for the parade assembly area:

  • Arch Street between 18thand 21stStreets

The following streets will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, October 13 for the parade dispersal area:

  • 3rd Street between Walnut and Race Streets
  • 4thStreet between Walnut and Race Streets

The following streets will be closed beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 13 for parade preparation and will reopen once the parade concludes:

The following streets will be posted as "Temporary No Parking" zones from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, October 13:

  • Market Street between Juniper and 2ndStreets

The following street will be posted as "Temporary No Parking" zones for the full day on Wednesday, October 8 and Monday, October 13:

  • Ranstead Street between 5thand 4thStreets

Transportation and Public Transit

Philadelphia's mass transit system, SEPTA, offers two subway lines, regional rail service to and from the surrounding suburbs, and bus service throughout the city.

Safety Information

Throughout the Homecoming 250 Navy Marine Corps festivities, the City will provide enhanced law enforcement and emergency medical services. The City and Homecoming250 are coordinating with local, state and federal public safety authorities to ensure everyone can safely enjoy the celebrations.

For the safety of event attendees and participants, unauthorized sUAS/drone usage is prohibited over crowds by the FAA. If you see a drone at an event, please report it to the nearest police officer with a location and description of the operator.

Call 9-1-1 if you are having a medical emergency or see someone who may be in need of medical attention.
