One-Way Traffic Control & Highway Ramp Closure Next Week
State Routes 33, 99, & 165

Merced County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will have traffic controls in place for the following construction and maintenance activities on State Route 33 (SR-33), SR-99, & SR-165 in Merced County next week. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:

State Route 33

  • One-way traffic control from Azusa Road to Denton/Leak Road for survey work on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

State Route 99

  • One-way traffic control on the East Atwater Over-Crossing for utility work beginning Monday, May 18, through Thursday, 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Full on-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at State Route 140 East for utility work on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at South Avenue Over-Crossing for landscape work on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Full on-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at Collier Road Under-Crossing for pavement work on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

State Route 165

  • One-way traffic control at Geer Avenue for pavement work beginning Monday, May 18, through Friday, May 22, 2026, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • Full surface street closure of Geer Avenue from Pearl St. to Spring Street for pavement work beginning Sunday May 18, through Friday, May 22, 2026, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
