Campbell University's College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (CPHS) is launching a new initiative designed to support prospective graduate and professional students as they navigate the application process with confidence.
"Campbell Pathways: Our Guide Towards Excellence" is a seven-part interactive seminar series created by the CPHS admissions team to guide students step by step through the journey from interest to application to interview.
Running from January through July, the monthly series addresses key components of applying to graduate and professional programs, including understanding the application process, becoming a competitive applicant, selecting strong recommenders, writing a compelling personal statement, exploring healthcare career options, and mastering interview skills. Each session is designed to be practical, accessible, and responsive to the questions students are most often asking.
"This series reflects our commitment to meeting students where they are and helping them put their best foot forward," said Shari McGuire, assistant dean of CPHS Admissions. "The application process can feel overwhelming, especially for first-generation or early-career applicants. Campbell Pathways allows us to break that process down, offer clear guidance, and provide reassurance that students are not navigating this journey alone."
The series offers significant value to prospective students by providing insider insight directly from admissions professionals who review applications every day. Participants gain a clearer understanding of what programs are looking for, how to highlight their strengths, and how to avoid common pitfalls, helping them become more confident and competitive applicants. Interactive formats, including Q&A sessions and informal coffee chats with admissions staff, allow students to ask personalized questions and receive tailored advice.
Beyond skill-building, the initiative underscores the CPHS admissions team's dedication to student success. By offering these seminars at no cost, the team aims to reduce barriers, increase transparency, and empower students to make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures. Attendance and content effectiveness will be evaluated through post-seminar surveys to ensure the series continues to meet student needs.
Prospective students are encouraged to connect with a CPHS admissions team member to register for the full Campbell Pathways series or to select individual seminars that best align with their goals and stage in the application process. "I'm incredibly proud of Sheila Weir and Justine Vallejo for embracing the challenge of finding new and meaningful ways to reach prospective students," said Shari McGuire, assistant dean of CPHS Admissions. "They were the vision behind this series, intentionally designing it to meet students where they are and provide guidance at every stage of the admissions journey. Their excitement and commitment to expanding access and support for future CPHS students truly shine through Campbell Pathways."
