Kansas Republicans' Extremely Messy Gubernatorial Primary Will Be on Full Display at Tonight's Debate
Kansas Republicans running for governor are currently mired in a crowded, messy race to the right where attacks are already flying and candidates are staking out the most extreme positions - and that will be on full display tonight as the field of candidates takes the stage in their first official debate.
The GOP candidates running for governor have all embraced the Administration's unpopular, cost-raising agenda, with the Kansas Reflector noting "Kansas Republicans have been loathe to publicly criticize Trump's trade agenda." They've also backed extreme D.C. Republicans' massive cuts to health care and food assistance and oppose efforts to expand Medicaid - putting them squarely out of touch with Kansas families.
"Don't tune in to tonight's debate expecting substantive conversations on the issues facing Kansans, because the Republican gubernatorial field clearly isn't interested in those," said DGA Deputy Communications Director Johanna Warshaw. "Instead, Kansas Republicans running for governor are locked in a bruising, all-out brawl of a primary where the only thing that unites them is their out-of-touch, extreme agendas."
