City-Wide Weekend Synopsis of Serious Incidents

Between May 15 and 18, 2026, over the course of the long weekend, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to an abundance of calls for service involving violent offences and serious injuries. These investigations are continuing, and the public is encouraged to contact the Major Crimes Unit (MCU) or utilize the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip lines if you have any information to assist police.

Assault with a Weapon: C26-114391

On May 16, 2026, just before 1:00 a.m., officers from the Central and North District responded to an assault with a weapon in the 400 block of Langside Street. A man in his 20s had serious injuries and police provided emergency medical care until he was transported to hospital in unstable condition. He was later upgraded to stable condition. The investigation is continuing.

Shooting: C26-114607

On May 16, 2026, at 9:56 a.m., officers from East District and the Tactical Support Team responded to the 200 block of Gordon Avenue regarding a man in his 40s who had been shot inside a residence. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable. The investigation is continuing.

Aggravated Assault: C26-115182

On May 16, 2026, around 11:00 p.m., North District officers responded to the report of a violent robbery believed to occur in the the area of Sinclair Street and Dufferin Avenue. Two men went to hospital with serious injuries. The investigation is continuing.

Stabbing: C26-115381

On May 17, 2026, about 5:15 a.m., officers from North District responded to the report of a male who had been stabbed in the 300 block of Boyd Avenue. Police provided emergency medical care and the victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition, and later upgraded to stable. The investigation is continuing.

Robbery: C26-116015

On May 17, 2026, around 11:30 p.m., officers from Central District responded to the report of a robbery possibly involving a firearm in the 300 block of Stanley Street. A man was outside when he was robbed and assaulted with a weapon. He was taken to hospital and was upgraded to stable condition. The investigation is continuing.

Stabbing: C26-116704

On May 18, 2026, just before 9:30 p.m., officers from Central District with assistance from the Tactical Support Team and K9 Unit responded to the report of a stabbing in the 600 block of Main Street. A man in his 30s was transported to hospital in unstable condition. The investigation is continuing.

Robbery/Stolen Vehicle: R26-26973

On May 18, 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service became aware of a social media post showing a woman being seriously assaulted by two people in the 200 block of Salter Street around 9:45 p.m. The suspects fled and left in a stolen vehicle that was previously reported to police. Unfortunately the victim who was assaulted has not been identified. The investigation is continuing.

Aggravated Assault: C26-116195

On May 19, 2026, around 1:30 a.m., during a drinking party at a residence in the 300 block of Bowman Street, a physical altercation took place, sending a 17-year-old male to hospital with serious injuries. A 40-year-old man, Justin Douglas ENNS has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Allegation of Non-compliance with Conditional Sentence Order x 3

He was detained in custody.
