Salcines Park, once considered the gateway to West Tampa, has been revitalized with a full park redesign that will restore a vibrant, safe, and popular gathering space.
This ribbon cutting comes just one week after the reveal of downtown's new and improved Herman Massey Park, another CRA-funded renovation project.
"Salcines Park, an important part of our history, has been beautifully renovated and is now ready for present and future generations to enjoy," CRA Board Chairman Luis Viera said. "The CRA continues to make life better, neighborhood by neighborhood."
Salcines Park, named for West Tampa Civic Leader Emiliano Salcines, has been transformed into a fresh, new space for residents and visitors to enjoy. The more than $1.4 million project was funded by the Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency, and is within West Tampa CRA boundaries.
The 6,000-square-foot park received a significant facelift, all against the backdrop of the iconic blue-and-white mural that pays homage to beloved members of this historic neighborhood.

The Tampa CRA aims to enhance and develop communities by creating thriving and inclusive neighborhoods that enhance quality of life and foster economic growth. Tax Increment Financing is key. It requires that certain tax dollars raised in a CRA boundary area must be spent only in the area in which they are generated.
