"This short report examines research and innovation (R&I) cooperation between EU Member States and India over the past decade. It presents key figures and trends for the period 2015 to 2026, covering Framework Programme participation, co-publications, co-patents and policy influence. India participated as a third country in 142 projects under the European Framework Programmes, with involvement concentrated mainly in the natural sciences and engineering. Academic co-publications point to strong collaboration between EU and Indian researchers, particularly in health, with an overall normalised citation impact above the world average. EU-India co-patenting shows a clear emphasis on digital technologies, with Germany as the Member State recording the highest number of co-patents with India. Policy citation data further highlight the two-way policy influence between the EU and India. Comparative analysis with other BRICS countries indicates that India is more internationally collaborative in patenting. In both patents and publications, the EU is India's second most important partner after the United States."
