DENVER - The City and County of Denver, through Human Rights & Community Partnerships (HRCP) and our Immigrant & Refugee Affairs Division, is proud to celebrate Welcoming Week 2025 from September 12-21. Launched by Welcoming America in 2012, Welcoming Week is a global movement that creates opportunities for people, whether new arrivals or longtime community members, to share stories, celebrate cultures, and strengthen community connections.

This year's theme, "Stories We Share," reminds us that while our traditions and experiences may differ, our hopes and values often unite us. Across Denver, partners are leading events and programs that reflect this spirit of belonging, including:

  • Commun Denver's ABC CafĂ© offers neighbors a chance to practice Spanish and English together weekly, with expansion to Arabic in the works.

  • Wezesha Dada Center's New Roots Immigrant Development Program is hosting community meetups through October 31 to build connections and share resources for economic growth.

  • Yoruba Ni Colorado's Afrocentric Celebration & Wellness Program on October 18 will blend music, storytelling, and health resources, including free wellness checks.

  • Jewish Family Services is piloting a career development program for refugee and immigrant women September 15-19, concluding with early access to a job fair.

Adding to this year's celebration, Denver has been awarded the prestigious 4-Star Welcoming City designationby Welcoming America. This recognition honors cities that demonstrate substantial commitments to immigrant inclusion and support. Denver's achievement reflects the collaborative work of HRCP, city agencies, and more than 50 nonprofit partners, to ensure all community members, regardless of origin, can thrive.

To earn the 4-Star designation, Denver demonstrated measurable progress in the seven framework areas of the Welcoming Standard:

  • Civic Engagement, Connected Communities
  • Economic Development
  • Education
  • Equitable Access
  • Government and Community Leadership
  • Safe Communities.
