Letter from Jed Bower – NCGA President

Greetings…

I make the transition this week from serving as the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) board president to becoming the organization's board chairman. While I am looking forward to my new role and supporting NCGA's new president, the transition is bittersweet.

The last year has been remarkable, at times harrowing and challenging, but most of all it's been the experience of a lifetime. It has been an honor to advocate on behalf of the nation's corn growers and achieve some big wins this year. This includes convincing the administration to pause duties on key fertilizer imports and successfully urging a company to abandon its efforts to place duties on glyphosate imports.

We also got a standalone E15 bill passed in the House of Representatives and worked with the Senate to include similar language in the farm bill, which recently was passed out of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.

These are a few of the many examples of success we've had this past year. But there is still a lot of work to be done. We continue to work to get the Senate farm bill across the finish line and signed into law by the President. We are also pushing to expand markets through our 10-10-10 strategy, ensuring 10% market share across three major emerging sectors: maritime fuels, sustainable aviation fuel, and bioeconomy products.

While I hate to move out of the top job during some tough fights, I take comfort in knowing that Michigan farmer Matt Frostic is taking the helm. Matt is a successful farmer, dear friend, and amazing leader, and I have all the faith in the world that he will take us to new heights.
