Blue Dog Coalition Statement on Government Funding Vote

WASHINGTON DC - The Blue Dog Coalition issued the following statement following last night's vote on government funding.

"For the last 43 days, our government's core services were left to decay while partisans in Washington held a pissing contest over government funding. As politicians spent weeks fanning the flames of division, they held hostage the crucial services that so many hard working families rely upon.

So we once again find ourselves with an opportunity for a bipartisan path forward. National health is in decline, and despite the chaos of the last several weeks, millions of Americans remain on the brink of seeing their health care costs spike to unprecedented levels. It didn't have to be this way, and it cannot continue this way.

The Blue Dog Coalition stands ready to work with anyone who is serious about fixing our broken health care system, lowering costs, and fulfilling their obligation to pass real, bipartisan appropriations bills that first and foremost serve the American people."
