FYI: EV Charging on the WWU campus

October 1, 2025

Transportation Services offers EV charging in the following lots: 12G, 17G, 9G, and 10G (10G is currently closed due to Miller Hall Heating Project). But as the grants that installed and operated EV charging stations expired and the infrastructure has aged, EV charging stations have become less reliable; specifically, in 9G and 10G. Transportation Services is working on a plan to update and manage campus-wide EV stations in the future.

Western students and employees who have an active on-campus Western parking permit (hourly, daily, quarterly, academic, and annual permits) are allowed to use one of the EVcharging stations on campus. While actively charging your EV, parking permits will automatically be valid for the lot with the EVcharging station for up to 4 hours. Resident students can use EVcharging stations to charge their vehicles in the evenings and overnight. When a vehicle is finished charging, it must be returned to the parking lot designated on your permit.

While attempting to charge your vehicle, if you notice that an EV station is not working, please notify Transportation Services at [email protected] or 360-650-2945 and we can attempt to have the charging station reset.
