WASHINGTON, DC Congressman Andy Ogles introduced the "Capitol Emergency Control Act," which empowers President Trump to extend his federalization of D.C. amidst the national emergency created by Mayor Bowser and the rogue City Council. This legislation amends Section 740 of the D.C. Home Rule Act to permit the President to extend his emergency authority, in 30-day increments, for as long as may be necessary to maintain peace. Under this bill, this action can only be halted by formal Congressional disapproval. Due to the historic drop in crime in the District, President Trump's authority over the capital is essential until Congress enacts the BOWSER Act-the permanent solution to make D.C. safe again.
"There's no question that Muriel Bowser and the feckless D.C. City Council are directly responsible for the crime wave that engulfed our capital. With just 30 days of Trump, crime has been virtually wiped out," said Congressman Ogles.
"If Congress allows his authority to expire, the Marxists running D.C. will unleash a level of mayhem we've yet to see. Let's save our city and back up the President," Congressman Ogles said.
