Governor Mike Braun Applauds IURC for Taking Action to Make Energy Bills More Affordable
INDIANAPOLIS - After holding 10 listening sessions across Indiana, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission today announced a series of actions aimed at reducing energy costs for Hoosiers.
"Affordability for Hoosiers is my top priority, and my appointees on the IURC have been tasked with making decisions that are fair for Hoosier families. Today's announced action steps are a great step to making energy bills more affordable. Hoosier families work hard to make every dollar count, and utility companies must start doing the same." - Governor Mike Braun
Among the many named action items is an investigation into the use of trackers on utility bills in the context of HEA 1002. HEA 1002 is the energy affordability legislation signed into law by Governor Braun earlier this year. The law reforms how utilities are regulated and strengthens accountability.
Governor Braun has made energy affordability a central focus of his administration, taking action to put strong ratepayer advocates in position to make energy more affordable. This year, Governor Braun signed landmark energy affordability legislation that strengthens oversight of utilities, creates new consumer protections, and requires utilities to be measured against affordability and reliability standards.
