WASHINGTON - Rep. Tony Wied (WI-08) sent a letter to the Chief Administrative Officer of the U.S. House of Representatives requesting she withhold his pay until the government shutdown is over.
"I have been informed that despite a lapse of appropriations and current government shutdown, Members of Congress will continue receiving their salary. Please withhold my pay until an appropriations agreement has taken effect."
"If Democrats want to shut down the government and stop paychecks for federal workers and service members, then Members of Congress shouldn't get paid either," said Wied.
