City of Yuma offers self-serve sandbag station ahead of weekend rain

Yuma, Ariz. - In anticipation of possible heavy rain this weekend, the City of Yuma Public Works Department is providing residents with a self-serve sandbag filling station in the parking lot of the Yuma Civic Center (1440 W. Desert Hills Drive).

The sandbag station will open on Wednesday, October 8 at 10 a.m. and will remain open until further notice. It will be stocked with sand and empty bags for self-filling while supplies last. Because on-site shovels are limited, residents are encouraged to bring their own. To ensure resources are available for as many households as possible, sandbags are limited to five per vehicle.

The City urges residents to use caution when traveling during inclement weather and to take this opportunity to revisit or update your household disaster plan. For guidance on creating a Family Emergency Plan, visit https://www.ready.gov.
