TAMPA, FL (September 11, 2025) - - Tampa Police have arrested and charged 22-year-old Jamarcus Harris in the murder of a 29-year-old man that occurred earlier this month.

On September 1st, 2025, just before 7:30 pm, Tampa Police responded to a report of a man shot in the 4700 block of Citrus Cr. Officers located a 29-year-old black male suffering from gunshot wounds. Although Tampa Police and Tampa Fire Rescue rendered immediate aid, the victim died at the scene due to his injuries.

Detectives immediately began interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence, and developing leads. As the investigation progressed, detectives received tips suggesting the shooter was Harris (black male, 3/16/2003). Preliminary information indicated that Harris and the victim knew each other and had a heated argument before the shooting.

Investigators followed leads and gathered additional evidence that positively linked Harris to the shooting, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Thursday morning, detectives apprehended Harris, taking him into custody without incident.

"The outstanding efforts of our investigators have ensured this suspect will be held accountable for his choices," said Chief Lee Bercaw. "There are no disagreements, arguments, or differing opinions that should ever result in the loss of a life, and those who choose to use a gun to resolve a dispute will face justice."

Harris was charged with Murder and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was transported to Orient Road Jail.

This remains an active investigation.
