AAJ Urges Lawmakers to Oppose Dangerous Stone Slab Bill and Protect Workers

WASHINGTON, DC-American Association for Justice (AAJ) CEO Linda Lipsen issued the following statement after the House Judiciary Committee passed H.R. 5437, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Stone Slab Products Act:
"Over the past decade, American workers have suffered serious injuries and deaths from handling artificial stone slab products used in popular countertops that cause fatal and irreversible lung disease. Despite hundreds of confirmed cases of silicosis in states across the country, this bill would gift wholesale immunity to the manufacturers of these hazardous products while stripping workers and their families of their right to seek justice. I urge all House lawmakers to oppose any efforts to advance this bill."
