Michelle Branch & Maren Morris Reimagine ‘Goodbye To You’ With ‘Laguna Beach’ Video

Michelle Branch is saying hello to a brand-new version of "Goodbye to You." The singer-songwriter teamed up with Maren Morris on a reimagined duet of her 2002 hit, and the music video is pure early-2000s nostalgia.

The video recreates the iconic prom scene from MTV's Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which featured "Goodbye to You" in its first season as cast members sang along in a limo on their way home from the final school dance. Original Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari appears alongside Branch and Morris, and the video even includes a lime green Jeep Wrangler as a nod to the show.

"'Goodbye to You' is one of those songs that immediately takes me back to a very specific time in my life, so being part of this remake with Michelle Branch feels incredibly nostalgic and special," Cavallari said in a press release.

Branch couldn't be happier with how the duet turned out. "Beyond thrilled to be joining Maren on her beautiful rendition of Goodbye to You. Singing with her was a dream. Call me crazy but I prefer her version to the original," she said.

Morris, who has called Branch a big influence, said she wanted to put her own spin on the song while still honoring the original. "Michelle was really encouraging to let me make it my own," she explained. "Her songwriting has always been ahead of its time."

The pair first revealed the collaboration when Branch made a surprise appearance at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium during Morris' 10th anniversary celebration of her debut album, Hero, Billboard reported.

"Goodbye to You" originally appeared on Branch's 2001 debut album, The Spirit Room, which sold three million copies worldwide. The new version will appear on her Everywhere and Back Again EP, out Friday (November 6) via BMG. The project celebrates Branch's 25-year career with reimagined versions of her songs featuring friends and special guests, including "The Game of Love" with New Radicals.

Branch is also on the road with her Everywhere and Back Again Tour, which hits New York's Beacon Theatre on Thursday (November 5) and wraps its fall run on November 13 in Lexington, Kentucky.
