UNI public service scholarship benefit scheduled for Sept. 29

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa School of Public Affairs and Service will host its annual scholarship benefit, Celebrating Leaders in Public Service, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cedar Falls.

The event celebrates the contributions of Iowans in public service while raising money for scholarships supporting undergraduate students studying political science or public administration with an interest in public service. An advisory board of more than two dozen women business and community leaders supports the event.

"For more than 17 years, this event and the community behind it have helped create meaningful opportunities for UNI students," said Scott Peters, director of the School of Public Affairs and Service. "We're grateful for the civic-minded leaders who continue to invest in our students and in the future of public service."

This year's event will feature the keynote address "America at 250: Assessing Women's Progress," by Karen M. Kedrowski, director of the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics at Iowa State University.

Register online by Sept. 22 at csbs.uni.edu/CLIPS. Cost is $50 per person. Those interested in supporting the event but unable to attend may contact Alissa Spidell at [email protected] or 319-273-5985.
