Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-06) announced Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is awarding Grosse Ile Township $1.6 million to support critical upgrades to its wastewater infrastructure. Congresswoman Dingell secured these funds through Community Project Funding in 2023, and they were made available through the 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act. The funding will be used to repair and rehabilitate aging sanitary sewer pipes and manholes across the township.
"This investment is essential for protecting public health and ensuring the long-term reliability of Grosse Ile's wastewater system," said Dingell. "These federal dollars will help Grosse Ile upgrade outdated infrastructure, improve system performance, and reduce the strain on downstream water treatment facilities. It's a win for the environment, for residents, and future generations."
The project will include rehabilitation of existing sanitary sewers and manholes, with a focus on extending their useful life and enhancing performance. These improvements will reduce the burden on downstream water treatment and result in better performance of the wastewater conveyance system.
