Two Special “Day of the Dead” Celebrations Taking Place Nov. 1



NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (October 31, 2025) - The New Brunswick Free Public Library and the Friends of the New Brunswick Free Public Library will present El Día de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) celebration on tomorrow, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the library's Carl T. Valenti Community Room, 60 Livingston Ave.

The event will commence with the Construcción de Altar/Altar Building, a community altar inviting the public to leave mementos and notes for loved ones. Attendees can enjoy traditional crafts, displays celebrating the Day of the Dead, and samples of pan de muerto (bread) and champurrado (Mexican hot chocolate) generously donated by Gaby's Bakery. Food samples are limited.

In addition, the New Brunswick Business Community Alliance is hosting the Festival de Día de Muertos tomorrow, Nov. 1, from noon to 6 p.m. at War Memorial Park at French Street and Jersey Avenue.

The event will feature a community altar, traditional folk dances and music, face painting, a catrina contest for adults and children, storytelling related to the Day of the Dead, and food and hot drinks.
