For the third year in a row, a Clay Electric-sponsored student on the Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., has been selected for the Youth Leadership Council.
This year's honoree is Kaleena Feng of Oakleaf High School, who was named Florida's 2026 YLC representative during the trip. Carsen Thomas, a FECA-sponsored Union County High School student whose family is served by Clay Electric, was named runner-up.
Her selection also marks the fifth time in the past decade that a student sponsored by Clay Electric has earned the honor, continuing a strong run for the cooperative's Youth Tour program.
Each year, Clay Electric sponsors local high school students for the Youth Tour, giving them a chance to visit Washington, D.C., learn more about electric cooperatives and meet other student leaders from across Florida and the country. The trip gives students an up-close look at the places and people that have helped shape the nation, while also introducing them to the cooperative business model and the role electric cooperatives play in their communities.
The Youth Leadership Council gives one student from each state the opportunity to continue building on the Youth Tour experience after returning home. YLC representatives serve as student ambassadors for the program and take part in additional leadership opportunities connected to America's electric cooperatives.
Congratulations to Feng, Thomas and all of this year's Youth Tour students.
