USTelecom Calls on Congress to Pass the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026

Washington, D.C. (April 21, 2026) Today, USTelecom - The Broadband Association sent a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to voice strong support for the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026. The letter from USTelecom President and CEO Jonathan Spalter called for swift passage of the bill to cut red tape and help broadband providers deploy networks more quickly and efficiently.

"For millions of rural Americans, broadband is the backbone of modern agriculture, small business growth, telehealth access, and educational opportunity," wrote Spalter. "The Farm Bill's continued support for the ReConnect Program is essential to closing connectivity gaps and delivering the high-speed, resilient, scalable networks that rural communities need to fully participate in today's economy."
