On 4 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with Mr. Andreas Schaal, Director for Global Relations and Co-operation of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), at the OECD Headquarters in Paris.
The Vice Minister reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to OECD accession by 2028, viewing this as a key mechanism for advancing domestic reforms, aligning national standards with international best practices, and enhancing the country's long-term competitiveness. He underscored the broad support received from across all sectors of Thai society while the OECD, in turn, reaffirmed its readiness to work closely with Thailand in advancing the accession process.
The two sides also exchanged views on ways to further strengthen cooperation at both the national and regional levels. They agreed that Thailand could continue to play an active role in advancing the OECD Southeast Asia Regional Programme (SEARP). #TH2OECD
