(CAMDEN, NJ) -The Cooper University Health Care Innovation Center is hosting its third New Jersey Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Challenge. This event will provide participants with online education and training in SDOH issues, health informatics, and business pitching to create sustainable solutions that help improve the lives of those in underserved communities.

"Our goal is to bring together participants who care deeply about helping people who are negatively affected by SDOH issues such as homelessness, food insecurity, lack of access to health care, and substance abuse," said Neal Lemon, PhD, MBA, associate vice president for technology commercialization and innovation. "Our primary goal is to spur community collaboration to improve health outcomes and take advantage of new technologies to foster business innovation."

Along with institutions like the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), Rowan University, and others, Cooper is looking to build the strength of this event with additional corporate sponsors and partners. "We're really hoping to see participation in the Challenge from across the state from private and public partners such as these," Lemon added.

Registration for the 2025 SDOH Challenge is now open. The challenge is being held virtually from now through October 29, 2025, with the final presentation event scheduled for Thursday, October 30 at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden.
