Cameron University Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Club to host one-day kids camp

Looking for a fun, active and confidence-boosting activity for your child? The Cameron University Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) Club is hosting a One-Day Kids Camp that combines fitness, teamwork and life lessons - all while having a blast on the mat! Designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a safe, fun and engaging environment, the camp is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, in the Aggie Rec Center. Session 1, for children ages 5-8, will begin at 9 a.m., while Session 2 kicks off at 1 p.m. for ages 9-12.

The cost is $50 per child. As spots are limited, early registration is encouraged. Participants should wear athletic clothing, socks and tennis shoes. Each camper will receive a t-shirt. To register or learn more, contact Dana Winters at [email protected] or at (580) 581-2309.

Each session is designed to be fun, safe and beginner-friendly, as no prior martial arts experience is required. Kids who attend will:

• Learn beginner-friendly Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques in a safe environment

• Build confidence, focus and discipline through hands-on activities

• Develop teamwork and problem-solving skills

• Have a great time making new friends while staying active

"Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is more than just a martial art-it teaches valuable life skills such as respect, perseverance and problem-solving. It also helps kids grow mentally and emotionally," said Jesus Rojo, president of the Cameron University BJJ Club. "We're excited to share this incredible sport with the community's youth."

Proceeds from the camp will support the Cameron University BJJ Club and will help fund student training, regional and national competition opportunities and future community events.

The Cameron University Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Club is a student-led organization committed to promoting the art and sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Through regular training, competition, and community outreach, the club helps members build discipline, respect, confidence and camaraderie - while sharing the many physical and mental benefits of BJJ with the broader community.

The CU BJJ Club is proud to be a member of the National Collegiate Grappling Association (NCGA), the nation's first governing body dedicated solely to collegiate grappling. The NCGA provides student-athletes with a structured, competitive platform that emphasizes athletic excellence, academic achievement, and personal growth. By aligning with collegiate standards and offering opportunities for recognition such as All-American honors, the NCGA opens the door for athletes to compete at the national level - and even pursue international competition and World Team Trials.
