This award, which was secured through a CDS request made by Chairman Capito in Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26), will be used to support existing water needs and also future growth, which is expected to bring additional business, residential, and recreational development to Berkeley County.
"As Berkeley County continues to grow and develop, the need for additional clean water infrastructure is critical. This funding is one step in the process of directing the needed resources to provide clean water to the growing number of residents and businesses in Berkeley County," Senator Capito said."As chairman of the Environmental and Public Works Committee and as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I am proud to utilize the CDS process to help make this project a reality."
In October of 2024, Senator Capito attended the groundbreaking announcement for the Bunker Hill Water Treatment Plant, which is part of the Berkeley County Water PSD's network of treatment plants. Earlier that year, Senator Capito announced that BCPSWD would receive $3 million from the EPA for renovations to help refurbish the 65-year-old plant.
