Construction and Full Road Closure to Begin on Ravenscliffe Road near Old Novar Road in Huntsville

Ravenscliffe Road to temporarily close starting the week of Monday, March 2 for culvert replacement

Muskoka, ON - The District of Muskoka is replacing the Bittern Creek culvert with a new structure. To ensure this work is completed safely and ahead of the spring thaw, construction and a full road closure on Ravenscliffe Road (also known as Muskoka Road 2), near Old Novar Road, are scheduled to take place starting the week of March 2. Work is anticipated to be completed in April 2026.

What Happened

The Bittern Creek culvert is a large structure located on Ravenscliffe Road, 4.5 kilometres from the north end limit, in the Town of Huntsville. The culvert is a crossing for a large stream that flows into the Muskoka River watershed.

In late 2025, staff observed a depression in the road surface at this location which prompted a short-term repair and thorough investigation. This work revealed a large section of the existing culvert had corroded and required replacement.
