Fischer, Ricketts Applaud Nomination of Eric Hamilton to U.S. District Court of Nebraska

OMAHA - U.S. Senators Deb Fischer (R-NE) and Pete Ricketts (R-NE) today applauded President Donald J. Trump's nomination of Eric Hamilton to fill an upcoming vacancy on the U.S. District Court for Nebraska. Fischer and Ricketts recommended Hamilton to President Trump to fill the vacancy.

"Eric Hamilton has built an impressive legal career defined by integrity, sound judgment, and a steadfast commitment to the rule of law," Fischer said. "He has served Nebraska with distinction, and I am confident he will continue that tradition of service on the federal bench. I was proud to recommend his nomination to President Trump and look forward to supporting him through the Senate confirmation process."

"As Nebraska's Solicitor General, Eric Hamilton served our state with integrity," Ricketts said. "I am proud to support his nomination to serve as District Judge of Nebraska. He has dedicated his career to public service and demonstrated a strong commitment to the rule of law. I am confident he will bring those same principles serving in this next role."

Hamilton currently serves as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Federal Programs Branch of the Department of Justice's (DOJ) Civil Division, a position he has held since 2025. He previously served as Solicitor General of Nebraska, as an Assistant Solicitor General of Texas, and as Associate Counsel to President Trump during his first term. Hamilton practiced law in Washington, D.C. and clerked for Judge Thomas M. Hardiman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Hamilton graduated from Stanford Law School (2013), where he wrote for the Stanford Law Review, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
