HHSC, UT Southwestern to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for New Psychiatric Hospital in Dallas

AUSTIN - The Texas Health and Human Services Commission and UT Southwestern Medical Center are hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 16 for the Texas Behavioral Health Center.

The Texas Legislature and Gov. Greg Abbott approved $384 million to fund design and construction of the new inpatient psychiatric hospital in Dallas. Children's Health provided $261 million to construct a pediatric wing.

Once fully operational, the hospital will have 292 beds, with 200 for adults and up to 92 for pediatric patients. UT Southwestern will operate the facility.
