City recognizes local hospitality, education, housing and transportation businesses leading in sustainability

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (April 1, 2026) - The 30th annual Sustainable Quality Awards, which recognize local businesses that demonstrate excellence in helping Santa Monica realize a more sustainable future, is set for April 29 from 4:30-7p.m. at the Annenberg Community Beach House.

This year's awards, a partnership between the city of Santa Monica and Sustainable Works, include three Grand Prize winners and an Excellence Award recipient that encompass hospitality, education, housing and transportation sectors in Santa Monica.

Awardees include:

Sustainable Quality Awards Grand Prize

  • Community Corporation of Santa Monica; a nonprofit organization that develops and manages affordable housing for residents of modest means. Since 1982, Community Corporation of Santa Monica has created over 2,000 homes across 95 buildings. Beyond housing, the organization offers free resident services integrating sustainability through green building, partnerships and programs.
  • Regent Santa Monica Beach; an oceanfront luxury resort reopened in 2023 after a $150M renovation, transitioning from the former Loews Hotel. Operated by IHG, it offers elevated amenities and dining while integrating sustainability throughout their facility operations.
  • Santa Monica Family YMCA; a nonprofit organization that focuses on youth development, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility. They offer memberships, programming and activities that improve overall well-being, and encourage service and connection within the Santa Monica community.

Sustainable Quality Awards Excellence Award

  • The Bike Center Santa Monica LLC: Excellence in Stewardship of the Environment; a welcoming hub for cyclists of all levels, offering rentals, repairs, sales and guided tours. Their experienced team promotes biking for commuting, errands, exercise and recreation.

Grand Prizes are awarded to businesses that excel in the three categories of sustainable economic development, social responsibility and stewardship of the environment. Excellence Awards are given to outstanding achievements in any one or two of the three categories.

Each of this year's winners are Green Business Certified, fulfilling the Tier 2 level certification established by the California Green Business Network. "Sustainable businesses strengthen local communities by creating jobs, protecting the environment, and reinvesting in the people and places that allow them to thrive," Chief Sustainability Officer Shannon Parry said. "This year's Sustainable Quality award-winning businesses are an integral part of our community and our economic recovery and we are immensely grateful for their effort."

The Sustainable Quality Awards are the oldest and most rigorous sustainable business award in Southern California. Since 1995, a total of 180 Santa Monica area businesses have been recognized with 243 awards.

Winners are evaluated and scored by an independent panel of nine qualified professionals with expertise in economics, business management, strategic planning, organizational development, human resources, environmental policy and green building and are representatives from the city of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce and the community at large. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., the awards ceremony begins at 5 p.m. A networking reception catered by former Grand Prize winner, Back on the Beach Café, will take place following the ceremony.
