Morocco's FM Holds Fruitful Talks in Rabat With Burundian Peer

Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Mr. Nasser Bourita held talks on Friday in Rabat with Burundi's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation, Édouard Bizimana, who is on a working visit to Morocco, reflecting the shared will of both countries to strengthen and deepen the ties of friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the two ministers to commend the exemplary relations uniting the two countries and to reaffirm their commitment to making every effort to develop, strengthen, and diversify bilateral cooperation in priority areas, in line with the willingness of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye.

They also welcomed the progress made in the commitments undertaken and the cooperation agreements signed during the first session of the Morocco-Burundi Joint Cooperation Commission, held on May 12, 2025, in Rabat, which culminated in the conclusion of ten agreements and a cooperation roadmap for the 2025-2027 period.

On another note, Bourita, while commending the achievements of Burundi's rotating presidency of the African Union during the current year, reiterated the Kingdom of Morocco's commitment to supporting the Burundian government in carrying out this mandate.

For his part, the head of Burundian diplomacy expressed his deep gratitude to the Kingdom of Morocco for the valuable support provided to the Republic of Burundi in ensuring the successful fulfillment of this presidency.
